Thank You Cards ft Concord & 9th and Distress Paints

Hello all!

I’ve put a bit to the side the Christmas themed cards ( not for long, though) and today I am sharing a set of Thank You cards and my experimenting with the Distress Paints. I wanted to try something new for stamping so I pulled out my paints and gave them a try. I already knew that paints can be used for stamping, and that they work better with rubber stamps, but it was pretty easy using them with my clear stamps also.

The great thing about these paints is that when they dry they become resistant to water, so you can use your watercolor mediums to color on top and the paints won’t move around. I will for sure try that also in the near future:)

So, I picked some colors that I thought worked good together and stamped the leaf from the Concord & 9th stamp set onto vellum. I looove how the paints stamp on vellum! To get the most out of my paints, I spritzed a bit of water on the stamp and stamped it several more times on watercolor cardstock. You can stamp 4-5 times without re-adding paint to the stamps.  Awesome for mass-producing as it saves a lot of time! 🙂

For one of the leaves I used clear embossing powder and added color with my NUVO Mousse. I just can’t get enough of this product. And the shimmer of these pastes is simply gorgeous on vellum!

I also used an embossing folder and added color on the design with the NUVO Mousse.

20161121_101411

Once everything was dry, I cut all the leaves with my scissors and assembled my cards. I kept the layout very simple as I wanted to have the leaves as my focal point.

I hope this was inspiring and I thank you all for stopping by! xoxoxo

Colorful Pumpkins ft Distress Inks and NUVO Mousse

Happy Saturday, my friends!

Here I am with a new fall theme card using a non-traditional color pallette and few supplies to create a quick and easy card.

For today’s card I used my Distress Inks to color this gorgeous pumpkin stamp from Penny Black. I really love big size stamps like this one as you can quickly fill in the background of your cards, all you need is adding a sentiment and you are done 🙂 I wanted to use some bold colors for my pumpkins rather than the usual orange and I really like how it all turned out.

Once again I used the NUVO Mousse for adding shimmer on my card and this time I used it with a bit of water. I was surprised to see how great this paste works with water; you can easily add shimmery accents to your stamped images or add splatters like I did on my card. I have only the gold and the silver but I will definitely buy more colors as I really like this product!

Once my coloring was done, I added some gold string and several sequins to match the colors of my pumpkins. For my sentiment I used the DYMO Label Maker and this is a great tool for creating sentiments for your cards as it creates labels and also embosses each letter.

You can watch the video below or HERE on my Youtube channel. As always, links to the products are listed below.

Thank you all for stopping by and untill next time I hope you have a great weekend!

Fall Card with the Smooshing Technique

Hello, friends!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always liked the smooshing technique and after a bit of thinking I finally decided to give it a shot:) I first saw this technique done by Laura Bassen, you can check her Youtube channel & blog for amazing inspiration!

20160923_210211

As I wanted to make a fall inspired card, I decided to use kraft cardstock for my card base and picked several Distress Inks in a fall pallette. I really love how all these colors work together!

I applied each color onto a plastic sheet, sprayed a bit of water on top and then used a piece of acetate to pick the colors and smoosh them right onto my card. Because the cardstock that I used for my card base it is not watercolor, I didn’t add too much water to the colors to avoid the warping as much as I can.

20160923_213132

Next I splattered the background with white and gold paint and for the rest of my card, I used two lovely stamp sets from Simon Says Stamp. Did some embossing for the sentiment onto a strip of vellum and tied some twine into a bow on the fron of my card.

You can watch the entire process in the video below or HERE if you wish to watch the video on my YouTube channel! Supplies are listed below.

Free Hand Your Own Background

Hello,

anyone up for an icecream today?:)

I must be in the ”make a background phase”, as this is the first thing I think of when I start making my cards lately:)) And free hand my own background is something that I never thought I would be able to try but I took the shot and I sooo love the end result!

The background of today’s card is all ”drawn” and colored by hand. It was so easy to make that I can’t wait to try other shapes and color combos! I started by simply painting some circles onto a piece of watercolor cardstock, some bigger and some smaller. Once the color was dry, I took a permanent marker and draw the outlines of the circles. Nothing too neat! And just because I wanted a bit more craziness, I doubled the scribbled lines so they looked more dynamic.

20160715_172431

Next I used some of my gelatos for a very soft and simple watercoloring onto the stamped images from the Altenew stamp set called Way Too Sweet

For a bit of sparkle I added  clear glitter on some of my icecream cones and mounted them all up onto a circle that I die cut from vellum.

20160715_172414

The card is pretty simple to make and having a bunch of those backgrounds ready can help making a lot of cards. They are so fun to make and you can try many other shapes, like hearts, triangles, squares ecc

SSS November 2015 Card Kit / Day 5

Happy Saturday, everyone!

As I anticipated yesterday, here is my non-card project that I made with the Simon Says Stamp November Kit.

1_335373_FS

I used some of the papers from the pad and several chips from the Pebbles set and with the help of my Minc machine I created some very fun decorations for my wall. I was so thrilled to see that the Minc can be used as a laminator too and had so much fun creating these decorations. Finally, I can use my patterned papers in a creative way and won’t have them laying around my craft room anymore.

20151128_135945

For this project you will need a simple laminator, you don’t need the Minc for this, and some laminating pouches. I got mine on Amazon for under 10 euros and there are so many other brands out there from which you can choose.

20151125_151408

The photos are very explanatory, I also made a short video so you can see the process, but mainly I just put my papers into the pouches and ran them through the Minc. Easy peasy and sooo fast:) I will hang these onto my kitchen wall and my craft room wall too and will make some more to give to family and friends. You can also create your own papers, stamp a background in the colors of your choice, use watercolor mediums, and in just seconds you have your decorations ready.

You can watch the video right below or HERE on my Youtube channel!

See you soon with a new project, untill then have a great weekend!

SSS November 2015 Card Kit / Day 4

Hello again!

Moving on with the 4th day where I feature the Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit and I have a very quick card to share with you.

1_335373_FS

I picked one of the papers from the kit and one of the chips from Pebbles that I thought worked well together. And just because my embellishment had pretty much the same color as the background paper, I darkened it a bit with my blue Distress inks.

As I wanted to add more interest to the layout I added a pie that I cut out with my scissors from another embellishment and distressed this one also:) I then stamped and white embossed  the sentiment on the inside of the card and my card was all done.

Here is the how-to video and you can also watch it HERE on my Youtube channel.

See you all tomorrow with the last day of this mini series where I will feature some wall art decorations and not a regular card. Hope you will like it:)

SSS November 2015 Card Kit / Day 3

Hello!

Here is a very quick card & video that I made with the SSS November Kit.

1_335373_FS

Although in the begining I was a bit scared of these decorative Chips by Pebbles that are included in the kit, I am starting to love them, so the card for today highlights these lovely embellishments.

20151125_152609

I picked some of the decorations that were similar and worked with eachother and created a cluster onto my card base. I used regular glue to adhere the branches and just some foam for the cute cute owl there.

For my sentiment, I used the banner stamp from the set and picked an ink that pretty much matched the color of the leaves.

20151125_152804

After all pieces were adhered onto the card, the ”finishing touches madness” started, lol! I used some white gel pen for highlights, the glittery Stickles, Glossy Accents, sequins, Wink of Stella..and I could have continued pulling so much more from my stash, hihihi!:) One thing I wish I had done for this card from the beginning, I wish I had worked onto a square card, a 5.15 ” card base. Maybe all those elements would have looked better onto a bigger card..I hope I’m not gonna wake up tonight and do some card surgery, lol!:)

Here is the how-to video and you can also watch it HERE on my Youtube channel.

I’m entering my card in the Jennifer McGuire Share Handmade Kindness challenge:)

Thx for dropping by!

SSS November 2015 Card Kit / Day 2

Happy Wednesday, you guys!

I’m bringing a pie and a card made with the Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit 🙂

1_335373_FS

With this kit there are included some lovely decorations by Pebbles, all following a kitchen theme, so I picked some of them for my card today. Just to bring them a bit more to life I added some shading around the edges with my Distress Inks.

20151124_152820

Next I created my polka dot heart background with the cute little heart from the set and an orange dye ink by SSS, as I wanted a tone on tone effect. For my sentiment I used the white embossing powder by Ranger in the super fine finish.

20151124_152839

I then adhered all the embellishments onto my panel in a cluster, some with adhesive and some with foam for extra dimension. Of course, I added sequins and some red sparkling details with the Stickles by Ranger.

20151124_152844

This card was so simple to make, I had fun using those embellishments, although in the beggining it seemed pretty much challenging trying to incorporate them into my cards:)

You can watch the how-to video right below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

Thx for reading!

SSS November 2015 Card Kit / Day 1

Hi!

As the title says, I am starting my Simon Says Stamp Card Kit series and will be sharing 5 cards made with the November kit. Although it is a bit late for fall themed cards, I still want to work with this wonderful kit and hopefully bring a bit of inspiration:)

1_335373_FS

For my first card I used mostly the stamp set from the kit and created a background by stamping several of the images and watercoloring them with my Distress Inks.

20151124_132735

And because I liked how the coloring turned out I didn’t want to cover all that background with the sentiment so I chose to stamp and heat emboss it onto a piece of vellum. Also, with that vellum being all translucid, I poked some holes into the vellum and my colored panel and tied them both with some gold ribbon.

20151124_132920

The sentiment stamps that are included in the set can also be used on the inside of a card, as they are a continuation of eachother, so I believe that for the first time I stamped a greeting on the inside of my card:)

20151124_132845

Last thing, I added a bit of shimmer and some clear sequins.

You can watch the how-to video right below or HERE on my Youtube channel.

SSS October 2015 Card Kit / Day 5

Hello, crafters!

Final day of projects made with the SSS October Kit. I have to say that with this kit I could go over and over and create a lot more cards than just 5. It is truly inspiring!:)

1_332968_TH

My last card is very simple, but sooo much fun! The inspiration for this card came from the My Mind’s Eye paper, the one that has all these glasses printed and I said to myself that I have to use some googly eyes for this one:)) I think I never used so many googly eyes for one card ever!

20151017_155841

The process is pretty basic, I stamped and gold embossed the glasses onto some cream cardstock and then I cut them out very carefully with my scissors; I didn’t want any cardstock peeking around the edges.

I then picked some medium size ”eyes” and glued them right onto the glasses. And I did the same for some of the glasses that are printed already on the paper. With each pair of eyes that I was adding, I kept feeling like I was being watched. Who knows why, lol:))

20151017_155808

My sentiment is white embossed onto a strip of red-pinkish cardstock from the kit and adhered straight down onto the front of the card. I then popped the eye glasses with some foam tape and made a white dashed line all aorund the banner ..and my card was all done!
