Here I am with the last day of ‘Stretch’ for Christmas card making series. If you want to go back to the very first day, you can click right here.
The today’s card features embossing paste, stenciling and blending with distress inks. The layout sketch is from My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge. What a great layout, right?
So here is my card.
The background has all sort of blue shades and I created that using the blending tool and the fabulous Distress Inks. Just ink your dabber and work your way into the paper with light circular motions. For a more intense look, just apply the ink by pressing more with your blending tool.
After my background was dried, I die cut a snowflake like shape.( that is a flower stem btw, it is not a real snowflake die.) I used the die cut negative as a stencil and I gently applied the white embossing paste over it. As you see, you can easily repurpose the craft items you have.
I then waited all to dry, it takes about 20 minutes for the embossing paste to dry. You can also dry it with your heat gun, but wait at least 5 minutes before doing that, otherwise the embossing paste will kind of swallow.
I didn’t want to cover the background too much so I used a piece of vellum that I adhered with foam dots on top of the snowflake pannel. And another strip of patterned paper on top of that! It’s like layering a cake:)
I silver embossed the polka dot circle and punched it out.I added the number stickers, the silver thread and that finished my card.
I don’t know if the picture shows it as it really is, but I spritzed a bit of shimmer all over the background with the Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz from Tsukineko. This stuff is absolutely amazing, It adds like splashes of glitter, but so so so subtle and so elegant, don’t know how to describe it, it’s just amazing:) You have to try it out! I would sprinkle it all over :))
