SSS July 2015 Card Kit Day 3

Hi and welcome to the 3rd day of the SSS card kit mini series!

Today I have a sort of vintage inspired card to share with you and this is the result of simply just letting go while making a card and what comes out, comes out:)

I knew I wanted to create something that has a vintage feeling, use some watercoloring and my ZIG markers. So I first stamped several sailing boats with the Versamark and dried the ink with my heat gun without adding any embossing powder. I tend to do this a lot lately:) Next, I grabbed 3 ZIG watercolor markers and added color right over the sailing boats. I went in with a wet brush to spread the color around, but tried to stay pretty close to the stamped image and left a lot of white space in beteween the boats there.

At first looked like a total mess, but I continued working on the layout and added some Old Paper Distress Ink with my wet brush to color the white areas. I then dried all out and added more water and dried again and so on and so forth, untill I noticed that there were some lines dried out from the various colors there and that to me looked like and old nautical map:) So that’s when I decided to add some dashed lines, like a nautical route or something like that. I only wish the lines were much more faded, I did try to remove the lines that I initially made with a brown marker and re-did them with a lighter one, but still look to dark to me:P

For the edges of my card, I used a pigment ink pad and applied the color right onto my card by swiping the pad on top. I don’t know if the pigment inks are water soluble, but I added water to that blue ink also:)

Lastly, I white embossed the sentiment onto a vellum circle die cut and placed behind a smaller circle that I die cut from one of the patterned papers.

I really like how it turned out, I wasn’t expecting this result, lol
